The Harrison EMS added a new and improved vehicle to its fleet last week, launching the era of the corps’ newest ambulance with a blessing and barbeque.
Earlier this year, Harrison EMS purchased a 2017 Ford Transport/Demers ambulance, which is the smallest and lightest vehicle in the fleet of ambulances. According to EMS spokesman Ron Benson, the smaller and lighter ambulance design allows for a safer and more comfortable ride for patients and EMTs.
“Having all the necessary patient care equipment within arm’s reach limits the crew for having to get up while the ambulance is in motion, thus improving safety and the well-being for all,” he said.
The EMS introduced the new $104,000 ambulance into the fleet with blessings from St. Anthony of Padua priest Father Christopher Monturo and Rabbi Eytan Hammerman, followed by a drive through Harrison with Eric Singer, the EMS executive director, and Mayor Ron Belmont.
