Detective Derka Abbate filed the complaint with Harrison’s attorneys at the end of 2017, alleging that Olsey sexually harassed her for six years.

As of press time, Olsey has not been suspended from his position as the head of the department, and town officials have not spoken publicly about the matter.

Abbate, a 14-year veteran of the Harrison Police Department, is married to Richard Abbate, who is also a police officer in the department.

Olsey has served as the department’s police chief since December 2016, when he replaced former Chief Anthony Marraccini, who resigned amid an investigation into how he logged his overtime hours.

The Harrison Town Council serves as police commissioners and will ultimately determine the next move after the conclusion of the investigation, which is being conducted by the Law Department.

Abbate and Town Attorney Frank Allegretti could not be reached for comment, as of press time.
