Ex-golf club GM out on parole

After serving less than one year in state prison, former Rye Golf Club Manager Scott Yandrasevich, who was convicted of grand larceny and falsifying records in August 2014, is out on parole.

Yandrasevich, who was released from Clinton County’s Altona Correctional Facility on June 6, was serving a one- to three-year sentence as the result of embezzling approximately $340,000 from the city-owned golf club between 2007 and 2013 through various shell companies he created.

As per the terms of Yandrasevich’s conviction, the former general manager was required to pay $271,000 in restitution to the city. To date, Yandrasevich is yet to repay that money.

City officials speculated that Yandrasevich’s theft was much larger than what he was convicted of. Thus, the city decided to pursue an insurance claim in seeking roughly $2 million. In a settlement with Travelers, the city’s insurance carrier, Rye was awarded $1.55 million in late February as a result of money stolen by Yandrasevich.

According to Mayor Joe Sack, a Republican, because of the relative success of the settlement with Travelers, the city likely won’t pursue the remaining restitution owed by Yandrasevich, instead delegating that option to the insurance carrier.

In the meantime, the city is still currently embroiled in a lawsuit with former employees of RM Staffing—a shell company created by Yandrasevich—over overtime pay and tips.
