Swatting incident leads to tense moments in New Rochelle

On July 10, at about 2:01 p.m., the New Rochelle Police Department received a call from a male party stating a shooting had just occurred at a private
residence on Fifth Avenue and that there was a single victim.

New Rochelle’s SWAT team was deployed and police detectives responded to the scene in a tactical approach.  But after subsequent investigation found that no such shooting occurred and all residents of the home were fine and had no knowledge of any such incident.  Detectives are attempting to follow up on the origin of the call and motive of the caller.

Swatting incidents have become prevalent with cases occurring in Eastchester and Rye in recent years.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is
