When one thinks of Section 1 lacrosse powers, the names that pop up immediately tend to be the stalwarts; the Yorktowns, Ryes and Mamaronecks of the world. But this year, Harrison is starting to gain some recognition, parlaying a quick start to the season into some serious expectations.
On Saturday, April 26, the Huskies won their ninth straight game to start the season, easily outclassing visiting Arlington 10-5 to keep their undefeated streak alive.

Isaac Schultz paced the Huskies with five goals and two assists, while Austin Margolies chipped in two of his own as well, leading the way for a Huskies’ attack that has been splendid thus far.
Schultz noted that while the Huskies didn’t know exactly what the year would hold, they were confident that their grit and competitiveness would help the squad emerge as contender. “Coming into the year, we knew that we had lost a few seniors and we didn’t know what to expect from the O-side,” said Schultz. “But we’ve had a lot of younger guys—like freshman Reed Appleton—step up and play great for us.”
Jacob Burack continued his strong play in net, standing as the linchpin for a Harrison defense that has confounded opponents all season long. Barack made 19 saves on the day—many of them at point blank range—to keep the Admirals off-balance.
“On the defensive side, a lot of our poles have matured and gotten more physical this year, and I have to give a lot of credit to Jacob Buack; he’s kept us in games this year and made some ridiculous saves when we’ve needed it most.”
The Huskies are currently 9-0 on the year, but will face some stiff competition as they prepare to close out the regular season. On May 7, Harrison will take on Pelham (9-1)—whose lone loss this year has come at the hands of Class A powerhouse Mamaroneck. On May 15, the team will take on rival Rye in the regular season finale. The Garnets are currently 6-2 but have not lost a game to a Section 1 opponent thus far.
“We take every game seriously and we prepare for each team with a specific gameplan,” said Schultz. “We have some tough teams left, but we’re going to be focusing on us, what we have to do, and working hard to get ready.”
