Harrison’s strong second half downs Nyack

Through the first four games of the season, Harrison’s football team is proving one thing; they’ll continue to find a way to win.

That much was evident on Saturday night, when the Huskies erupted in the second half to down a tough Nyack team 48-22, demonstrating just how good Harrison can be when they are firing on all cylinders.

Marco Marisi plows ahead for positive yardage against Nyack.

Though the final score might look lopsided, the game was a close one through the first two quarters of play, with the two teams heading into halftime with the score knotted at 14-14. But Harrison’s early commitment to the run paid off late, as the Huskies surged in the second half, outscoring their hosts 34-8 to turn the contest into a laugher.

Harrison quarterback Jack Badner—who ran for two touchdowns and threw for a pair of scores as well—credits his team’s second half performance to the work being done in the trenches.

“We established the run game in the first half, which opened things up for us later,” said Badner. “We ran the ball well and that helped us light up the scoreboard.”

Badner would finish with 95 yards on the ground, eclipsed only by Marco Marisi, who rushed for 101 yards and a score of his own. Jason Crupi rushed for a touchdown and had a receiving TD as well, while Matt McCoy and Sal LoGuidice also found the end zone as well in Harrison’s biggest offensive explosion of the year.

At 3-1 on the year, the Huskies have been rolling since a week one loss to state power Shenendehowa, but they’ll face their stiffest Section 1 test this week, when they take on Somers. The Tuskers have long been the dominant local team, and came into the year having not lost to a Section 1 team in six years. But the defending state champs have shown that they aren’t invulnerable in 2025, stumbling early in the year against Rye, but they’ve looked tough the last two weeks, outscoring Yorktown and Mahopac by a combined 50-10.

“Obviously we’ve lost to them in the last few years, they’ve knocked us out of the playoffs, so we’re excited for this test,” said Badner. “We’re definitely looking for a little bit of revenge against them here.”

The Huskies and Tuskers will square off on Friday, October. 3 at 7 p.m. at Harrison High School.
